Node Applications Are Now Live for Community Review!
By Peter Somerville, May 9, 2019.
Step 4 of Elixxir BetaNet node selection is here! We have been completely blown away by the level of interest, with 870 applications submitted from 80 countries. We have reviewed the applications, and are now ready and eager for you to participate and make your voice heard in this next step of the BetaNet node selection process. All anonymized applications are now available on our new Node Forum! Visit by clicking the image below:
Published this morning, the BetaNet node application forum is open to anyone who shares the Elixxir team’s passion for protecting digital privacy and security. Simply click the above image to access the node forum. There you’ll find a search bar at the top of the page to look for specific application details. To add your feedback, simply click the “sign up” button at top right to create a free account. With your account, you can add your comments, critiques, and feedback on any of the applications.
These next steps in the process are extremely important to us, so we want to make sure that you have all the information and context needed to provide effective feedback on these applications. As described in our earlier blog post, An Open & Transparent Beginning, we are modeling our selection process on the steps followed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) when they were working to define standards for the internet. Our motivation is to create a robust, high-quality procedure for reaching agreement on this first vetted set of BetaNet nodes.
Every node applicant was asked questions that we developed thanks to public feedback on our node questionnaire in January, which was step 1 of the process. Our team has enjoyed seeing the diversity and vitality of the pool of applicants, and we know that you will also enjoy hearing from the members of this community.
Publishing this Node Forum represents step 4 of Elixxir's six-step BetaNet selection process. The forum will serve as a hub for community discussion as Elixxir moves toward step 5, scheduled for June 3rd, when we will publish an initial set of selected nodes for public review and feedback.
As with the rest of the process, we rely on you and your fellow members of the Elixxir community to drive our decision process. Please take time today and over the next few weeks to visit the Node Forum and make your voice heard!
